HSBC begins search for chairman Tucker’s successor, Sky Reports – BNN Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) — HSBC Holdings Plc is preparing to begin searching for a successor to Chairman Mark Tucker, Sky News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The board has appointed specialists to find a replacement for Tucker, who is expected to step down ahead of the bank’s annual general meeting in spring 2026, Sky said. According to the broadcaster, search firm MWM Consulting is one of the leaders in this process.

The search is being coordinated by Anne Godbehere, senior independent non-executive director of HSBC, Sky reports. The board will consider both existing non-executive directors and third parties to succeed Tucker, Sky said.

An HSBC spokesman declined to comment.

The search began shortly after new CEO Georges Elkhedery began a major restructuring of the bank. Elhedery is cutting back on its management committee and hundreds of managers have reapplied for the job.

Tucker has been chairman of HSBC since 2017. Previously, he was CEO of AIA Group Ltd.
