6 candidates who could replace Kevin Stefanski as Browns head coach in 2025

The Cleveland Browns are so miserable in 2024 that it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they undergo a more significant coaching change. Replacing Kevin Stefanski and perhaps also general manager Andrew Berry may not be a move that will completely change them, but a case can be made for such a drastic move.

Although there are rumors that suggest the Browns not going to move forward with any coaching change in 2025, a lot can change in six weeks. The Browns could look around the league to find the next great offensive innovator or defensive motivator.

The Browns would do well to take a look at each of these six candidates, compare and contrast them with Stefanski, and decide which coach is best suited to lead this team into the future.

Nagy could get another shot at being a head coach, as he won over 60% of his games when Mitch Trubisky was his starting quarterback in Chicago. A move to Cleveland could give him a solid team to work with, and his offensive experience could help elevate the starting quarterback.

5. Scotty Montgomery, AHC/RB Coach, Detroit Lions

A former East Carolina college coach, Montgomery was instrumental in the development of Sonic and Knuckles guards Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery. Hiring assistant coaches is the same philosophy that brought Dan Campbell to Detroit, and it could help the Browns find their next top player.

4. Jesse Minter, DC, Los Angeles Chargers

Minter has led a historically effective Michigan defense, and his Chargers unit is leading the league in many key areas in his first season in Los Angeles. Giving Minter players like Denzel Ward and Myles Garrett may be very interesting for him, provided he can hire an offensive coordinator.

3. Joe Brady, OK, Buffalo Bills

After failing in his first job with the Panthers, Brady has been reborn with the Bills and Josh Allen continues to play at an MVP level. Hiring Brady is no guarantee of success, but he will make sure the Browns have a high-quality quarterback play and a consistent passing attack in 2024.

2. Brian Flores, DC, Minnesota Vikings

During his time in Miami, Flores was able to win at an average rate, but his bombastic personality and poor management of quarterbacks like Tua Tagovailoa were his undoing. Armed with experience and some offensive players he could lure from Minnesota, Flores turned the Browns into a team. the team no one wants to face.

Vrabel, who was hired by the team as a consultantbecame a consistent winner in Tennessee despite some subpar offensive talent outside of Derrick Henry and a front office that thought Traylon Burks was as good as AJ Brown. Vrabel gives the Browns the fundamental skills they need to survive in the AFC North.
