BMC closes Andheri crematorium in Amboli for traditional services from December 1 for renovations; Natural gas cremation will continue

Mumbai: The crematorium at Amboli Andheri will be closed for traditional services from December 1 due to renovation work carried out by the BMC.

However, the gas crematorium will remain open. Until the renovation work at Amboli is completed, facilities for traditional cremation will be available at Vesave Hindu Crematorium (Versova) and Oshiwara Hindu Crematorium, the health officer of BMC K-West unit said.

Meanwhile, the small animal crematorium in Malad will be closed for three weeks starting December 2 for renovation work, the BMC veterinary department said.

However, for cremation of animal carcasses weighing less than 50 kilograms, the department has created a link through which people can register for cremation of small animals. By registering through this link, one can perform the last rites on the deceased animal at the Malad crematorium at the selected time slot, said Kalimpasha Pathan, Director General, Department of Veterinary Health Services.
